independence day

We made it home last Wednesday afternoon and have been running around like mad ever since, trying to fit everything in the week we’re here. On top of the normal day-to-day things we need to do, we’ve had a multitude of appointments – one of which was Casey’s lung CT scan yesterday.

Y’all. We finally, finally, FINALLY got good news. The tumor in his chest is shrinking, which means the meds are working and makes some of the pain and nausea they cause worth it. He just has to watch his Potassium intake because it’s elevated (and who knew that was a problem?!) thanks to the multiple packs of chicken noodle soup he eats every day.

Hallelujah! Praise be to God!

The weeks leading up to scans are always fraught with anxiety as we worry (but try not to), so today, on this day of our nation’s independence, we celebrate more than one great event. We’ll do it with Blue Bell’s Moo-llenium Crunch, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, and Madi’s homemade pizza. Hell! Maybe we’ll get crazy and have a beer! After all, the world’s our oyster! Or something like that.

We leave again tomorrow afternoon and head northwest to Colorado and beyond. As ever, please keep praying for us (and let me know if we can pray for you) and wait on pins and needles and other weird idioms for my next update as we head west for Manifest Destiny! Or something like that.

Happy 4th, friends!
